May 9, 2013 — Beer and Chocolate Tasting

This turned out to be a great event.  The evening started with a self-guided tour of Troegs Brewery where participants could grab a beer in the tap room and explore the brewery.  We then went to Hershey’s Chocolate World, where Roger Sansoni, Guest Experience Manager at Chocolate World, and Tricia Wilson,  Manager, Sensory New Business Development at The Hershey Company, provided the group with various pairings of beer and chocolate.

The pairings were as follows:
Troegs Dream Weaver paired with Gertrude Hawk’s Sweetie Pies
Troegs Pale Ale paired with Hershey Whoppers
Troegs Hop Back Amber paired with Hershey Bliss Dark Chocolate
Sierra Nevada Porter paired with flourless chocolate cake
Lindemans Kriek Lambic Dark Cherry paired with Dark Wilbur Buds and Blommer Dark Chocolate

This was a great event. I had a chance to try several new beers, and experience the pairing with chocolate. My favorite had to be the Sierra Nevada Porter with the flourless chocolate cake.

I really enjoyed this event, thanks to Tricia Wilson from Hershey Sensory Dept. and Roger and all his staff at Chocolate World for making this a fun and relaxing evening! My favorite was the Porter paired with the flourless cake- an outstanding combination. The Lambic pairing was also excellent.
